Greene Contemporary show opening this week -- Apollo Beach -- often feature a wash of color in the background and a variety of inscribed symbols, shapes and lines overlapping in the foreground.They almost look like pictographs, not surprising considering that in one of his
artist's statements, Higgins
writes, "Central to my work since 1978, has been an involvement with the ability of graphic images, icons and symbols to portray culture as a continuity."
