Dr. Douglas Brothwell D.M.D. B.Ed. D.D.P.H. M.Sc. Cert.Q.M.
Dr. Brothwell is currently Associate Professor and Head, Community Dentistry at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Manitoba.
He earned his D.M.D. from the University of Saskatchewan in 1984.
After 9 years of private dental practice, Dr. Brothwell obtained his B.Ed. in 1994 from the University of Saskatchewan and his D.D.P.H. and M.Sc. in 1999 from the University of Toronto.
Dr. Brothwell served as the Dental Public Health Consultant for Ontario's Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Health Unit before joining the University of Manitob in 1999.

Dr. Brothwell is the Director of the Centre for Community Oral Health, major provider of dental care for underserved populations.
The Centre provides clinical services and health promotion initiatives targeted to Aboriginal, low-income, developmentally disabled, and aged individuals.
teaching responsibilities for undergraduate and graduate students include the topics of public health, epidemiology, statistics, evidence-based decision-making, smoking cessation, and geriatrics.
research interests include the topics of tobacco cessation, epidemiology of disease in high-risk populations, and the link between oral and systemic health.
maintains hospital privileges at two provincial institutions serving mentally challenged clients and is co-organizer of Project Ghana, providing dental outreach services in the hinterlands of Ghana, Africa.
