After touring the United States and Canada for three years with a Gospel music group, Doug graduated from the LOGOS Bible Study Center and Los Angeles Baptist College in 1982. He went on to study at Talbot Seminary, Luther Rice Seminary, and Whitefield Theological Seminary. He worked for Phil Johnson at Grace To You as the first Director of Counseling Ministries and traveled and spoke with Dr. John MacArthur at radio Bible Conferences. He was ordained and commissioned by the Elders at Grace Community Church. Doug was the founding pastor of The Shepherd's Community Church in Canoga Park and served there from 1984 to 1990. He then accepted the call to pastor Middletown Bible Church where he currently ministers, and where he helped to launch Middletown Christian School in 1995. He has had the opportunity to teach pastors in communist Romania, Mexico City, and has spoken at numerous camps, retreats, and pastor's conferences. He has served as a professor at the LOGOS Bible Study Center, and Grace School of Theology and Ministry in Pleasant Hill, California. He has been published in Reformation and Revival Journal. Doug and his wife Janice have been married 31 years and have four children.

Rev. Doug Thompson (Linda) Pastor of Care Ministries Originally from Detroit, Doug was a member of Ward Memorial Presbyterian Church. He graduated from Wheaton College and studied at the Sorbonne, Paris, France. He went to Sierra Leone, West Africa, where he taught high school French, Bible and algebra for three years. He then attended Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California, where he met his wife, Linda. Doug earned his master of divinity at Fuller. For the next six years the Thompsons were at Ward Church, where Doug worked in Pastoral Care, began and developed the college and young adult ministries, worked with the Keenagers and taught a number of classes. From 1983-1993 the Thompsons were church planters in France, being the first missionary couple from the EPC. From 1993-2003 Doug was associate pastor at Faith Church in Rochester Hills and then founding pastor of New Hope Church in Oxford. Doug and Linda have been back at Ward since 2003.
