DOUG HENKELMAN, MINISTER OF MUSICDoug Henkelman became our full-time Minister of Music in May of 2000.He is responsible for organizing and over-seeing the Musical Life for the Presbyterian Church at Hackberry Creek.Group offerings include Praise Team, Chancel Choir, Handbell Choir, Youth Music, and Children's Choir.Doug has been in church music all of his life, starting with singing in the children's choir and keeping his mother, the church organist, company as she practiced at the First Church of God in Saint Joseph, Michigan.A graduate of the University of Michigan, Doug participated in the school's Marching Band and University Choir. After graduation from Michigan, He became Director of Bands for Benton Harbor High School in Michigan, teaching beginning band students as well as at the high school level.Doug also was Assistant Director of Bands at Duncanville High School in Texas, helping to get the school's first 5A State Marching Band Championship. He also has experience in the retail music business profession, working at two businesses for over 12 years. We pray that PCHC Musicians would get beyond the "first level:" where we go beyond the focus of the technicalities of music and to begin to focus on our God and to worship Him.We are always looking for people who want to assist us in leading worship through the gift of music that God has given us.We stress the importance of community as a fellowship of Christian believers. We want to musically perform well, not for the sole sake of performance, but because our God has blessed us with these talents and our response in thankfulness and gratitude is to worship Him through those talents. I look forward to working with you as we worship Him through music together
