Doug Harr
Doug Harr StrataFusion, Partner dharr@stratafusion.com Doug is a consulting partner with StrataFusion, which specializes in interim executive (CEO, CIO, CTO, COO, CXO) staffing and strategic consulting and leadership to support the business. Doug brings more than 25 years of technology leadership experience both as an executive-level technology practitioner and in senior leadership roles for professional services organizations. He also serves on several advisory boards for emerging technology companies. Experience Prior to StrataFusion, Doug was CIO at Splunk, Inc. a software and services firm that has created the industry leading platform for machine data. Splunk's vertically integrated solution is used globally by over 7,000 customers to deliver operations & applications management, security assurance, analytics, and IoT programs. Doug and team built a 100% cloud based IT shop, outside of software Engineering, who were 50/50 between co-lo and Amazon EC2. The team also supported Splunk's IPO and related growth and compliance requirements for SOX and SOC 2 for the cloud offering. Prior to this role and some additional time with Stratafusion, Doug was CIO at Ingres Corporation, a leading open source database company, and focused there on building and deploying a 100% SaaS and cloud based IT application portfolio. This included services from Salesforce.com, Xactly, Intacct, ADP, Boomi, Tricipher, and other solutions that allowed Ingres to sustain a rational, variable cost IT infrastructure. Prior to the CIO position at Ingres, Doug held the same role at Portal Software, Inc. where he restructured the application portfolio to more cloud based applications. Doug has been busy since the turn of the millennium practicing and espousing this strategy. Prior to these experiences, Doug was Sr. Vice President for Core Technology Group, and FutureNext, Inc. leading consulting practices dedicated to deploying ASK, J.D. Edwards, Oracle, and custom applications to businesses in various industries. These practices grew to include e-Commerce, Procurement, Portal, Time/Expense, and custom web application development technologies, with partners such as Ariba, Extensity, Intershop, Epicentric, and Microsoft. Originally Doug began his career in IT as a programmer, data center manager, and related roles eventually running an IT department for Tracor Aviation prior to entering the consulting field. Education Doug holds a B.S. in Business Administration with a Computer Science minor from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. He has also been a member of the Consortium for Information System Executives (CISE), group, and is a guest lecturer at Cal Berkeley and State University system MBA programs, seminars and conferences. Doug is published in the book "CIO Perspectives" and in numerous publications including CIO Magazine, InfoWeek, Forbes.com.
