MRS. DOROTHY MAY HOARE
Dorothy, affectionately better known to us all as Dot was born nearby at Lower Sticker on the 17th November 1926. At the time of her death she had reached the age of 81 and up until two issues ago was still performing the delivery of this magazine in the Old Hill area. Prior to that she also carried out the delivery in Creed Lane. Dot retired from her employment with the St. Austell shop of Edwin Broad at the age of 60 but continued with her community interests until her illness forced her to withdraw. A loyal member of Grampound's branch of the International Women's Institute organisation Dorothy served her local branch as a Committee member for many years. The tender loving care given to their favourite animals, donkeys, is clearly illustrated by the collection of trophies won at many Agricultural Shows, including the Royal Cornwall. Dorothy was a great supporter of "The Grampound Times" collecting little bits of interesting copy for inclusion, but most of all she enjoyed performing her delivery to homes in Creed Lane and Old Hill, relishing the friendly comments that greeted her on her way around. Rest in peace Dorothy - we shall miss you greatly.

I include especially in this acknowledgement a wish for 'Many Happy Returns' of a recently celebrated birthday to DOROTHY HOARE, a long standing member of our team.
Sometimes production of the magazine can be delayed slightly for any number of reasons but never in the delivery aspect. Dot often completes her considerable delivery to all addresses in Old Hill and Creed Lane almost before the printer's ink is dry! LOVE AND CONGRATULATIONS DOROTHY.
