The husband and wife, co-pastor duo recently started Light to the Nations Church
and Bible Institute
in Shawnee.Their message is a " ... love uncontaminated by self interest and counterfeit faith, a life open to God ... " 1 Timothy 1:5.
The church's flier reads, "All of the truth, all of the time."
"We strive for balance in all of our five-fold giftings," Donna
said.The church also embraces inner session and praise and worship.
The Sundbergs said they spent a lot of time praying about starting the church, and waited on a clear answer from God for a year.
"We believe there's a harvest for us," Donna
said the most difficult part of the process has been people misunderstanding their motives for wanting to start a church.
"We all have a part," Donna
said, "We should embrace new people when they come, be willing to change and be creative."
The Sundbergs said they want to make a difference and reach those in their region.
The church emphasizes learning from each other."God's salvation is open to everyone," Donna
said, "It is interesting and lively when different ethnicities get together.
Although there are good churches in this region, Donna
said, we are not your average church on the corner.She
said Light to the Nations stands out because they "want to get rid of spiritual abuse, confusion and misunderstanding."
