Dr. Don Morton - One correction.
...
Sharp Eye: Dr. Donald Morton has a sharp eye. He had noticed that John Hoffman, who is Adolph Gerszewski's second cousin, had mentioned Rhine Kaserne as being the previous name for Gerszewski Barracks. As you can see in the photo that Dr. Morton sent to me on December 29, 2003 it was definitely called Rhein Kaserne. He went on to say that the photo was taken on the backside of one of the buildings occupied at the time by the 56th Medical Battalion, which the 761st was a part of. The building was the one (if standing at the front gate) in the back left hand corner of the kaserne and that you had to go behind the building which was up against the fence in order to see it. This picture was taken in 1963 while Dr. Morton was the Commanding Officer at the 761st.
From the PIT: Having searched the classmates.com web site for Gerszewski Barracks previously, believe the 56th Medical Battalion departed Gerszewski Barracks during 1965 or 1966 and the 70th Engineers Battalion moved into those barracks at some point in time.
Pass It On: I passed this photo on to both Walter Elkins (see attached story on page two SOMEONE CONTACTS ME III) and Bruce Christman so that they could use it on their web sites, should they so desire, explaining who took the photo, a brief description on Dr. Morton, and the photo description that Dr. Morton had sent.
...
Exciting Conclusion: Now if you remember, Dr. Morton retired as Director of Medical Imaging from St. Clare's Hospital in Schenectady, New York.
...
Like Magic: In early March of 2003 I did my magic (hocus, pocus, address and phone number come into focus) and found a phone number for Dr. Donald Morton by searching the AMA directory on the internet (see da book - da sequel).
...
Phil then gave me Dr. Morton's email and I sent him the Timeline, Search List, and The ARM PIT.
...
May Attend In Future: Received an email April 10th (see da book - da sequel) from Dr. Morton who was the CO at the 761st from May 1963 to June 1966. He retired four years ago as Director of Medical Imaging from St. Clare's Hospital in Schenectady, New York. Dr. Morton was unable to attend the San Francisco reunion but he may attend a reunion with us in the future.
