Awka-GOVERNOR Chris Ngige of Anambra State has petitioned the Police Service Commission chairman over an alleged plan to transfer the state police commissioner, Mr Donald Iroham, for his failure (the commissioner) to effect the January 2, 2004, Enugu High Court order which directed the Inspector-General of Police to remove Ngige as the Governor of Anambra State on the grounds of his alleged resignation in July last year.

Ngige said though neither the court process nor the ruling was served him, but that the Inspector General of Police moved to enforce the order on Saturday by directing the Anam-bra State Police Commissioner, Mr. Donald Iroham, to withdraw all his security details and restrain him from performing his constitutional duties.

The Police Commissioner, Mr. Donald Iroham, from his reaction would have ignored the governor's tirade if not for the alleged huge sums of money injected by government into the Imo state police command.
Reacting also to Governor Ohakim's sudden loss of confidence in the police, the police commissioner, Donald Iroham
said, " the Governor is entitled to his
opinion but we are strictly abiding by the ethics of police work and cannot compromise the rule of law to please anybody".

Sept. 24 -- Owerri, Sept. 24, 2007 (NAN) Mr Donald Iroham, the Commissioner of Police in Imo, says security arrangements have been made to ensure peaceful Christmas and New Year celebrations in the state.Iroham, who gave the assurance in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Owerri today, warned hoodlums to stay away from the state."I can assure you that by the time you see the kind of kit some of them (policemen) will be wearing, you will be astonished how prepared we are,'' he said.He said that the Imo State Police Command would move its personnel to the rural areas to ensure a crime-free yuletide.Christmas -- 2 The police commissioner explained that such a move was informed by the observation that criminal activities increased during that period of the year."We are aware many Imo people from all over the world will come to stay with their loved ones at home during the festive period."Mindful of this, we are moving as many policemen as possible to the rural communities,'' he said.Iroham said that the government had assured the police of maximum cooperation to achieve the desired results.Christmas -- 3 Meanwhile, Iroham said that the police had uncovered a plot by militants from the Niger Delta to invade the state.He said that the plot was uncovered by detectives on surveillance duties.Iroham said that the militants planned to lodge in hotels from where they would carry out their operations.
