Fr. Donald Fest, SSJ Fr. Donald M. Fest, S.S.J., a native of Pittsburgh, PA., serves as the Director of Communications and Development for the Josephite Priests and Brothers and is a member of the General Council. In 1963 he entered the Josephite minor seminary in Newburgh, NY, as a ninth grader. Having completed his second year of college six years later while in Newburgh, he then spent one year at Mary Immaculate Novitiate, Clayton, Delaware. While at Saint Joseph Seminary, Washington, DC, he completed his undergraduate work at Howard University with a BA in Sociology and graduate studies at the Washington Theological Union earning a Masters of Arts degree in Theology. He was ordained in 1976 at his home parish of St. Anne's, Castle Shannon, and Pittsburgh, PA. He served as associate pastor at St. Francis Xavier Church, Baltimore, MD, St. David Church, New Orleans, LA, and Holy Comforter-St Cyprian Church, Washington, DC. Since 1985 to the present, he has served as pastor at St. Martin de Porres Church, Barrett Station, TX, St. Veronica Church, Baltimore, MD, and at St. Vincent de Paul, St. Benedict the Moor, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help churches, all in Washington, DC. He now lives in residence at the Church of the Incarnation, Washington, DC.

Rev. Donald Fest was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was ordained a priest for the Josephites Fathers and Brothers, a religious order dedicated to serving the African American Society in 1976. After his dedicated service as an associate pastor in African American parishes in Washington, D.C., Baltimore and New Orleans, he was appointed the pastor of St. Martin de Porres Parish in Crosby, Texas and later pastor of St. Veronica Parish in Baltimore. Rev. Fest is currently the Communications Director for the Josephites Community. He has dedicated his life to serving African Americans and serving Africans. He has made some visits to Africa and comes to Africa Reads Books Inc. with a wide variety of gifts and experiences. He is a member of the board.

In 1993 Fr. Donald Fest, SSJ was assigned as pastor to St. Veronica's. Under his leadership, the parish learned the importance of repaying debts that had been outstanding and he was diligent about working on the spiritual development of the parish. He helped the parishoners to embrace their heritage through changes to the environment of the church. African American Stations of the Cross were installed in the Church and the environment was changed to reflect African materials and symbols. he Church also particiapted in the RENEW program under his leadership.
