Donald E. Fennoy II
Executive Director, Maryland
Donald E. Fennoy II serves as the Executive Director of New Leaders for New Schools Maryland.
In this capacity, he oversees the day-to-day operations and programming for the Maryland program.
Before joining New Leaders for New Schools as Executive Director, Donald served as the principal of Philip O. Berry Technical High School in Charlotte, North Carolina.
accepted the principalship, Philip O. Berry
had been taken over by the state and accused of committing academic genocide; after four years under his leadership, the school was a high-functioning academic powerhouse.
In 2010, Donald
team received the National School Change award, an honor presented annually to the six schools in the United States that have demonstrated the greatest turnaround in a two-year period.
Donald's introduction to New Leaders for New Schools came when he agreed to mentor a Resident Principal in the Charlotte program during the 2009-2010 school year; he was impressed with the organization's drive to take the work of school reform to scale.
Donald graduated from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University with a degree in Elementary Education.
He went on to earn a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Central Florida, where he is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Administration.
