Donald DemarestIn 1953, Donald Demarest was introduced to the graphic arts at Walker Engraving.He left Walker in 1964 to work in production at Young & Rubicam.Three years later, he moved to Norman, Craig & Kummel to become Assistant Production Manager.In 1968, Young & Rubicam asked Don to return to become the Manager of Print Production, a position he still holds today.Over the years Don was named Vice President at Young & Rubicam.Don was the agency representative to the ANSI lighting standards committee, which set viewing standards for the industry.He has also been the agency representative to the Gravure Standards Committee since the early 1970's.Don has been the 4A's representative to the SWOP standards to committee almost since its beginning.He is the former Secretary Treasurer of SWOP and is currently on its Board of Directors.Don is the current Chairman of the 4A's Print Production Committee, and he is a past President of the Advertising Production Club of New York.For over 30 years, Don has been a member of the Lynbrook Fire Department during which time he has attained the rank of Captain.Don has been married 30 years to his wife, Judy, with whom he has three children and one grandson.Carrying on in their father's tradition, Don's two sons also work in the graphic arts industry.
