Don S. Morrow, age 66, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014.
Don was born February 2, 1948 to the late John Victor Morrow and the late Jewel Marie Akers Morrow in Winfield, Alabama.
He grew up in Tifton, Georgia and graduated from Tift County High School in 1966.
In 1970 he graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor's degree in accounting.
After serving his
country two years in Germany with the US Army
accepted a position with one of the Big Eight Accounting Firms in Miami, Florida.
transferred to their Atlanta office.
Don obtained his CPA certification in both Florida and Georgia and was a member of the Georgia Society of CPAs, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Chartered Global Management Accountants.
In 1975, Don accepted the position as Chief Financial Officer with a Macon based insurance broker and later was employed by a national hospital management company.
In 1989, Don founded Acquisition Management, Inc. and served as its CEO until his death.
Under Don's leadership, the company became one of the nation's most successful buyers and servicers of non-performing commercial debt.
Don was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder and Trustee.
Don held many roles at Northminster, including serving as the chairperson for a successful capital fundraising campaign and chairperson of a Pulpit Search Committee.
favorite role was teaching Junior High Sunday School.
Don was a longtime member of Idle Hour Golf and Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf, socializing with friends and taking his grandchildren to the pool.
He was also a member of the Satilla River Club, Macon Touchdown Club, and the Macon Chamber of Commerce.
He was a founding member of North Macon Youth Sports Association and served as its president for one year.
coached and umpired little league games for many years.
participated in many activities at Stratford Academy
, but his
favorite role for twenty five years was that he
led the "chain gang" for home football games.
He was a founding member of NMSC Society.
was involved in many business and trade associations as well as charitable and civic organizations.
loved the outdoors.
One of his
favorite pastimes was riding on a tractor on his
farm in Monroe County.
