Marine and mobile home inventory was sold off and in the fall of the year, the business was sold to son Don Main and Frank Main officially retired (for the first time). 2006: Ryan Main, son of President Don Main, joined the company with a business degree and a background in coaching hockey. Company President Don Main has served the industry in many capacities over the years including stints as President of RVDA Manitoba, Chair of the Board of RVDA Canada as well as four years as the Canadian representative to the RVDA of America and serves as a director of RV Care Inc. He was also awarded the Business Person of the Year Award by the Brandon Chamber of Commerce. Don Main

Longtime Brandon businessman and Pik-A-Dilly RV Centre president Don Main has become the first-ever Canadian chairman of the American Automobile Association.
"This is kind of completing the circle, if you will," Main told the Sun in an interview. He was elected to the position at the AAA's 112th annual meeting at its headquarters in a suburb of Orlando, Fla. "I don't have anywhere else to go, so this is kind of my last hurrah. I confess to you, this has been a personal goal for the last few years. Given it had never been done before, my assumption was that it just probably wasn't possible." Main is president of Main Group Inc., and a former Brandon business person of the year as chosen by the Brandon Chamber of Commerce. From 1996 to 1999, he served as chairman of CAA Manitoba, where he was a director since 1991. He was elected to the AAA board in 2006. But eventually, Main said that it became apparent there was no obstacle to his path to the chairmanship, and that he had as much of a chance as anybody else. "As it turns out, I guess I impressed some people, and they like what I've been doing and I did come to them with a great deal of experience." And that's no boast. Main chaired all of the national CAA?committees during his stint with that organization, and several important committees with AAA as well, including the audit committee and the mergers committee. And for the last few years, he has been a member of the executive committee for AAA as well in the role of vice-chair. "Don Main has played an important role in supporting the growth of our association - for both CAA Manitoba and CAA National," said Mike Mager, president and CEO of CAA Manitoba. A lot of people tend to think of both CAA and AAA as a tow truck service, Main said, which is principally the largest reason why members join the association to begin with. "But it's far more than that," Main said. "We have a very high-profile public affairs division in the U.S. We have a highway traffic safety foundation that's extremely active ... it does in the neighbourhood of about $15 million worth of research on an annual basis." And now as the chairman of the organization, it will be his job to decide "where we're going, how we're getting there and the timeline to do so." Issues surrounding the "connected car" as well as the looming possibility of driver-less cars are among the varied agenda that Main said he'll be dealing with during his two one-year terms as chairman. Currently, 46 of 50 states in the U.S. have adopted the law, but Main said drivers are not co-operating. Pik-A-Dilly president Don Main said his company was pleased to be able to participate in a significant way to the building of Murray House, which will serve as a home away from home for patients travelling to Brandon for cancer treatment.
"Cancer affects people of all ages and certainly affects the demographic that our company most serves," Main said. Main said the company's donation was the ideal opportunity for Pik-A-Dilly to give something back to the community that it has been so happy to serve for the past 50 years. The business saw great expansion and numerous location changes throughout the '60s and '70s, with Frank and Shirley's son Don joining the company in 1970. Don went on to purchase the business and become president in 1977 upon Frank's retirement. Don Main has served the industry in many capacities over the years, including stints as president of RVDA Manitoba, chair of the board of RVDA Canada as well as four years as the Canadian representative to the RVDA of America. He was also the recipient of the business person of the year award from the Brandon Chamber of Commerce.
