At least Austin isn’t the DWI Fatality capital | Granger & Mueller, 7 July 2009 [cached]
Houston's DWI task force receives about $480,000 a year in grants to pay overtime for officers to catch and process drunken drivers, said task force member Don Egdorf, also HPD's liaison with the district attorney's vehicular crimes unit. "I don't know if there are more drunks on the streets, but there are more officers looking for the drunks so there are more of them getting picked up," he said.

Ruben Trejo was charged with DWI based on the investigation by HPD Officer Don Egdorf.
Officer Egdorf gave an affidavit establishing probable cause to support the charge. The last paragraph of the Affidavit states that the officer requested a Grand Jury subpoena for Sgt.
It is clear from the Affidavit that the sole purpose of the Grand Jury subpoena was to collect medical records for Officer Egdorf’s use in his investigation and not to bring documents before the Grand Jury as part of a grand jury investigation.   It is unlikely that a grand jury was even seated and investigating this matter. As such the subpoena was improperly issued and represents an abuse of process by Officer Egdorf.
