Queensland University of Technology Dmitri Golberg is an Australian Research Council (ARC) 2016 Laureate Fellow and Professor of Queensland University of Technology (QUT) where he leads a group designing novel functional nanomaterials for advanced structural nanocomposites, flexible optoelectronic components, photodetectors, ion-batteries, supercapacitors and solar cells using state-of-the-art methods of in situ high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Dmitri joined QUT after more than 20 years of his research career in Japan, in the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS) and University of Tsukuba. He was also a visiting scholar of Max-Planck-Institute in Duesseldorf, Germany. His pioneering developments of boron nitride nanotube and nanoparticle field, inorganic nanowire syntheses and analyses, and novel methods of TEM were highly recognized by Thomson Reuters from which he received 2012 Research Front Award and nominated as a highly cited researcher in Materials Science in consecutive years of 2014-2016. In 2014 he was also selected as a recipient of "Seto" Prize of Japan Microscopy Society. At present Dmitri is included into world top-200 most cited materials scientists on the Web Science. He is an author of more than 600 per-reviewed papers in international journals with more than 27.000 citations, and a holder of more than 100 Japanese and international patents.

Professor Golberg has received $2.6 million to develop new ultralight and super-strong structural composites and 'green-energy' nanomaterials, such as solar cells, touch panels, batteries, supercapacitors, field-effect transistors, light sensors and displays.
He will use spatially-resolved, dynamic in situ transmission electron microscopy to research fundamental mechanical, electrical, thermal, optical, optoelectronic and photovoltaic properties of diverse nanostructures.
