...Dirk McMahon Senior Vice President - Northwest AirlinesDirk McMahon has been senior vice president- ground operations since April 2000.He
reports to Richard Anderson, executive vice president and chief operating officer.McMahon joined Northwest in 1985 and has held positions in pricing, finance and cargo and line maintenance.
Early in McMahon's career he
was given responsibility to prepare the cash flow forecast for the company.This was particularly important in supporting the buyout effort.McMahon
has also been involved with many strategic projects at NWA.He
was on the team that wrote the DTW Midfield justification as well as being instrumental in developing the expansion plans for MSP and MEM.While in Maintenance, McMahon's
most significant contribution was prioritizing the reliability initiatives.He
also expanded maintenance infrastructure by acquiring the CMH hangar and DTW DC10 hangar.Beyond his
infrastructure work McMahon can be characterized as a hands on executive.This was evidenced by his
holding 40 station visits in his
first year on the job in Ground Maintenance.McMahon
is also heavily involved in the automation initiatives that are currently on going at the airports.
