Kotopoulis has worked as an animation director, designer, illustrator and character sketcher for Universal Studios, Disney and the J. Walter Thompson advertising agency.His directorial work on the famous "Charlie the Tuna" commercials won him a CLEO advertising award.
He owned an animation company in California in the 1960s and worked on the TV shows "Name of the Game" and "It Takes a Thief."

The marriage didn't last long and Kotopoulis took his talent eastward to Toronto and then to New York City before settling in south Florida in the 1990s.
Kotopoulis' move to south Florida was the impetus for a switch of gears in his artistic expression.He discovered wood carving, and then began cutting metal in 1999.
Kotopoulis' new creations have enjoyed as much success as his early ventures.He has had three showings of his work at the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art in Tarpon Springs and another at the Bendheim Gallery in Greenwich, Conn.
He was returning from a show in Texas in 2000 when he stumbled across Seaside.He stopped and asked who had the best gallery.
Today, Kotopoulis' whimsical pieces of artwork may be seen at Quincy's in Seaside, Catherine Dickson Gallery in north Grayton, and at various homes around Seaside.
