Temple Israel, Canton, OH - Temple Israel Welcomes Dina Musaelyan Temple Israel Welcomes Dina Musaelyan May. 26, 2010 New Youth Group Advisor Temple Israel Welcomes Dina Musaelyan as the new Youth Group Advisor The Russian Resettlement Program through the Canton Jewish Community Federation resettled Dina Musaelyan and her parents, Natasha and Artur, in 1991 when Dina was only 5 years old. They had fled Baku, Azerbaijan leaving their family and friends and taking with them only what they could carry. Dina’s parents were willing to sacrifice everything they had and apply for refugee status in the United States so that they could provide a better life for Dina â€" a life that did not include religious persecution. Dina was the very first Russian child to be consecrated, enter Hebrew School and have a Bat Mitzvah and Confirmation. Dina was involved in the Temple Youth Group and served as Social Action Chairman, Vice President of Programming and eventually became President of TYG during her senior year of high school.
