Finnish operations support system (OSS) provider Comptel Corporation has added two new customers in Latin America this year - in Colombia and Brazil - and is expecting to add at least two more before year-end, company VP for the CALA region Diego Becker told BNamericas.
"Fulfillment for FTTX
is one of the hottest topics and one of the areas where we're seeing a lot of potential growth for 2012," Becker
said, adding that operators are consolidating their fixed and mobile networks to offer a single telecoms offering and brand.
"I think fulfillment will be one of the key issues next year.
It will drive a lot of cost reductions.
There is a lot of room for growth for new services, for better performance in time-to-market and consolidation of capital," Becker
sees the largest growth coming from Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Argentina and Peru, as well as some growth in Venezuela.
Brazil offers major opportunities due to the national broadband plan, as do Paraguay and Colombia, where the governments also have national broadband plans.
While large companies like Ericsson (Nasdaq: ERIC) and Oracle
(Nasdaq: ORCL) compete with Comptel, Becker
believes the Finnish company's focus on fulfillment and charging provides a flexible and appealing alternative.
