North Star Media is proud to announce that Dick Weissman, a legend in the folk music genre, has decided to extend his relationship with North Star Media. He has been with the company since 2002.
Dick Weissman's journey in the music scene is one of fantastic stories, as well as a who's who of legends throughout his career. Dick was recently in Michigan to discuss, amongst other things, extending his relationship that helped him achieve placements in television such as "My Name is Earl. Dick is well beyond just creating music these days. He wears many hats, and shares his wisdom currently with two different colleges.
Dick spent the sixties educating himself, while learning various musical instruments from folk legends. He was a member of the famous Journeymen, and in 1972, made the move out West to Colorado. Dick spent the next few decades writing, performing, and speaking at seminars; fully implanting himself in the West Coast folk scene.
In 2002 Dick and his wife Susan Planalp moved to Oregon, and they live in Portland, where Dick continues to perform, record, and to teach seminars and workshops. To date Dick has written 15 published books on music and the music business, is featured on six instrumental CDs, and has written over fifty instructional folios for various music publishers.
Dick is currently teaching at Portland Community College, as well as the University of Colorado. He is also the co-coordinator of the FAR-West Conference, a fantastic networking and showcasing chance for folk artists, managers, and record labels. Look for more information on this event soon.
