Mr Dick Rainsbury
Dick Rainsbury is Director of the Breast Unit at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester, past Tutor of Breast Disease at The Royal College of Surgeons of England.
As Director of Education at The Royal College of Surgeons of England from 2003-2009, he was responsible for designing, developing and completing a new central London skills centre.
This facility now deploys simulation to teach a wide range of surgical and professional skills in a modern, controlled environment, and is used extensively by all surgical specialties.
He has been a strong advocate of the model of the 'oncoplastic' breast surgeon, as a new type of specialist providing comprehensive breast and reconstructive services in the multidisciplinary context of a modern Health Service.
He has been invited to deliver over 60 International and 90 National presentations on a wide range of related topics, and was appointed as President of the Association of Breast Surgery in the UK in 2010.
main interests include promoting change and quality assurance in breast disease management, supporting teaching and assessment of new hybrid skills in oncoplastic procedures, and ultimately securing new subspecialty recognition for breast surgery- something which has just been approved by the GMC
He was founder Chairman of the Interface Breast Training Group of the British Association of Surgical Oncology and the British Association of Plastic Surgeons.
