President and Chief Operating Officer
Richard has served as Hemlock's President & Chief Operating Officer since November 2012.
A second-generation family member in the business, Richard is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company, taking over from his father and the company founder, Dick Kouwenhoven.
Alongside the talented and dedicated team at Hemlock
has helped position the company as both a local and international print industry leader.
Since joining this company in 1999, Richard has worked in a number of roles throughout the organization.
In 1996, he graduated from Ryerson's University's Graphic Communications Management Program earning a Bachelor of Technology Degree.
He currently serves as Vice Chair on the Board of the British Columbia Printing Industries Association (BCPIA) and over the past 10 years has participated in a number of committees, panels and networking groups, particularly focussed in the area of sustainability.

After graduating from Rotterdam Graphics Arts College in 1962 as a journeyman Typographer, and a short career in the graphic arts industry in the Netherlands, Dick moved to Vancouver in early 1965.
joined a small storefront printer (Hemlock) in Burnaby as the one-and-only employee in September of 1965 and became the majority shareholder in July of 1968.

at the forefront of technological innovation and environmental awareness in the printing industry, while maintaining a total commitment to quality and integrity.
Today, Dick is Chairman & CEO of Hemlock, with the Burnaby office and manufacturing plant that totals 79,000 square feet and employs over 170 dedicated craftspeople.
