Diane Veazie Math Department Lead
Diane has thirteen formal years of teaching experience in both middle and secondary mathematics. She received her BS in Math Education from the University of Arizona in 1973. Diane taught for nine years, but was lured away by the prospect of a corporate career in accounting. In 1985, she finished her coursework for an M.S. Tax Accounting and she passed the CPA exam in 1987. She spent twelve years in public and corporate accounting before returning to teaching in 2005.
While working in public accounting, she never gave up on math. She tutored local high school students in her kitchen for ten years before formally returning to teaching at American Academy in 2005.
Diane took Calculus (the first semester) again in 2008 to keep ahead of the math students here at AA. Diane also predicts that the American Academy Mathcounts team will go to the National competition in May of 2010.
