We are very proud to announce that Diane Hance is now wearing three hats for DeKalb County Hospice.Not only is she our part-time receptionist and a Direct Care Volunteer, she is also a back-up CNA.Diane received her CNA license this spring after completing the CNA training course at Kishwaukee College.She wears all three hats very well and performs an invaluable service for DeKalb County Hospice.

Church member Diane Hance doesn't want to take any credit, but has stepped in to help Jewel and the family understand what has been going on medically. ,"There may be a little language issue, but when a loved one is sick, it's always nice to have another set of ears.I'm just that other set of ears," she said. ,Hance is employed by DeKalb County Hospice, and said the hospice has been wonderful about allowing her time away to help the family at the hospital.Furthermore, Hance is the communication line between the family and the prayer chains.,"Many were willing to step in and help, but Diane has the (medical) training," said Yarnal.,"Diane has been an angel," Gould added.,Hance has spent a lot of time at the hospital and has seen a lot of support from the Filipino community, which is helping Magtanong and his family feel more comfortable."They appreciate everything that is being done," she said. ,And the family makes sure everyone is appreciated. ,"The word thank you is said more than I've ever heard it in my life."Hance emphasized that Magtanong wants to extend words of appreciation to the community as well. "He wants everyone to know he says 'thank you.'"Hance explained the cancer diagnosis was unexpected to the 58-year-old Magtanong. "He's not a smoker, he never smoked," she said. Currently, the family is hoping that Magtanong can be transferred to his son's home in Aurora this Thursday or Friday to start rebuilding his strength.His son is a registered nurse, working at University of Chicago Hospital, and therefore also has medical training.,"He really would like to go home to Kaneville," said Hance, adding that plans are to bring him home after he feels stronger, she added.,As for worship services, Magtanong had planned to spend most of June in the Philippines on a mission trip, so he had already scheduled other pastors to fill in for him.,"Their faith is so strong and they just say pray for healing and that's what we did," said Hance.
