Valedictorian of this year's graduating class is Samantha Anne Cossick, daughter of Sam and Diane Cossick of Bobtown and granddaughter of Mary Daly of Uniontown.

Cossick will deliver the valedictorian's address titled "Learn From the Past as We Step Into the Future" following remarks from school officials and Bethany Ross, the senior class president, who will deliver the welcoming address.
While in high school, Cossick was treasurer of the senior class, vice president of Students Against Destructive Decisions and senior editor of the yearbook.
She was an active member of the National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, Interact Club, Youth Anti-Tobacco Leadership Program and the varsity Academic League.
In addition, Cossick received the Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award from the University of Rochester, as well as the Principal's Leadership Award.
The Carmichaels' Lions Club also honored Cossick as the Student of the Month for May.
Outside of school, Cossick is a four-year staff member of the Washington Observer-Reporter's monthly youth magazine, Flipside.She also is a member of the alumni staff for the Western Pennsylvania Youth Leadership Seminar, held at California University of Pennsylvania.She studied dance for 11 years and is a former student of the Tricia Ricco Dance Studio in Carmichaels, where she studied for six years.
Cossick also served as Mapletown High School's Coal Queen representative.
