I was shocked to see the report of Diana Durr's
resignation recently in The Oxford Press
I want to express both my distress at her
departure from the Oxford Community
and my sincere appreciation to her
for all she

has truly dedicated herself to promotion of this community and has worked tirelessly in so doing.

The mission of the OVCB
is to enhance revenues from the city's bed tax by promoting Oxford as a destination for visitors and conventions.
During my six years on the OVCB
board, in furtherance of this mission, Diana
collaborated with many organizations to "put heads in beds.
As a direct result of her
efforts, bed tax revenues increased approximately $130,000 to $170,000 roughly from 2006 through 2011 - a period which certainly ranks as one of the most challenging economic times in recent memory.
worked with Miami athletics to attract and house participants in many sports activities.
A recent example: This year, for the second time, the Miami University Recreational Sports Center hosted the U.S. Age Group National Synchronized Swimming Championships, bringing 1,000 swimmers to the community.
also collaborated with the university to make Alumni Weekend a town event, with uptown venues, not just a campus event.
has assisted organizers of numerous events to obtain housing during their stay in town, and she
has always worked to showcase Oxford and make visiting teams, groups, and others welcome.
Many will appreciate the excitement Uptown Music has brought to our community during the summer months.
While management of this event is not part of the OVCB's
took responsibility for it, committing significant time and effort to schedule and staff the events and to secure funding through sponsorships.
also worked with The Oxford Press
to establish an on-line community calendar, and helped establish the May preservation tours of historic Oxford
She served on the Performing Arts Board, the Oxford Museum Association Board, the Miami University Art Museum Steering Committee and College Corner's Council.
In all of her
many fine efforts, Diana
love for, and commitment to, this community.
has reason to be very proud of her
We will miss her
