Rich was born March 23, 1929, in Tulsa, Okla., to Bessie Vennis (Allen) and Dewey Ervin Rich.Rich was born March 23, 1929, in Tulsa, Okla., to Bessie Vennis (Allen) and Dewey Ervin Rich.In 1940 the family moved to Oxford where Rich graduated from high school in 1949.On Jan.15, 1950, he married Ada Belle Emberton in Oxford.While Rich worked for the Santa Fe Railroad, the family lived in several places in Oklahoma and Kansas before returning to Oxford.In 1956 the family moved to California where Rich worked and farmed for six years before returning to Kansas.He later worked for General Electric, the Coleman Co. and Boeing Aircraft before retiring in 1991.Rich was a member of Maple Street Baptist Church where he had been music director for several years as well as lay minister.Survivors include his wife, Ada Belle Rich, Oxford ; three daughters, Linda Keady, Winfield, and Freda Hotchkin and Gena Havner, both of Oxford ; a granddaughter, Stephanie Tipton, whom the Riches adopted ; two brothers, Glen Rich, Wichita, and Earl Rich, Cuba, Mo. ; a sister, Dorothy Bohrer, Arkansas City ; three stepsisters, Janet Staats and Donna Schulte, both of Wichita, and Inez Garcia, Orange Park, Calif. ; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
