Meteorologist Derek Kevra started his on-air experience at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
He was the chief meteorologist for the U of M cable news channel before taking an internship in Detroit.
In 2007, Derek graduated from the University of Michigan's Atmospheric Oceanic and Space Sciences department with a degree in Meteorology.
Derek joined the NewsWatch 12 weather team in June of 2007, making KDRV the first station to have three meteorologists on staff.
particularly interested in climate science and thunderstorms.
One of his
personal dreams is to see the Northern Lights (aurora borealis) firsthand.
Outside the Weather Center
enjoys sports, especially baseball and basketball.

Derek lives in Central Point.
