Denver Stacy Sr. GILBERT - Denver Stacy Sr., of Gilbert, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 29, 2008, from CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston, W.Va.Born Aug. 24, 1936, at Panther, W.Va., he was the son of the late Andy and Bertha (Harless) Stacy.He was a charter member of the Isaban Baptist Church at Isaban, W.Va.He accepted the Lord in November of 1949.He remained a pillar of the church throughout his life.He was preceded in death by his parents, Andy and Bertha Stacy; his sisters, Ruby (Oscar) Roberts and Clara Jean (Raymond) Birchfield; and his brother, Clyde Stacy.Survivors include his bride of 52 years, Phyllis (Lester) Stacy; his son, Denver Dale Stacy, his pride and joy; his daughter-in-love, Lori Stacy, all of Gilbert; his loving granddaughter, Jenna Lynne, his little squirrel of Morgantown; and a host of family and friends.Denver was an encourager to young people and instilled to all of us to have a positive attitude.He attended Iaeger High School and McDowell County Vocational School where he excelled in Engineering.He was in the coal mining business with his life-long friend, the late Charles Icenhour, with I&S Coal Company, Spring Branch Coal Company, and South Fork Resources.He was involved in mining operations in West Virginia, Virginia, and Kentucky.He also worked at River Ridge Coal Company and later retired from Pittston Coal Company.He was also a great asset to his son's many businesses.He was an auxiliary member of the Gilbert Volunteer Fire Department and past member of the Gilbert Kiwanis Club.A Celebration of Life will be conducted at Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, with the Revs.
