Sprague, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist with more than 20 years of experience in the field of Sport Psychology.He did his bachelor's work at the University of Houston.He received his doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of Kentucky where he is currently an adjunct professor teaching sport psychology.He served as an athletics consultant at the University of Kentucky for 10 years, working with the 1996 NCAA Championship Basketball team, the '93 Peach Bowl football team, and the '92 SEC Champion University of Kentucky men's tennis team.In '98 he consulted with the Cincinnati Bengals.Over the past few years, his work has concentrated more heavily on amateur and professional golf.Dr. Sprague is a member of the American Psychological Association, Division for Exercise and Sports Psychology. Sprague & Associates is a consulting firm with emphasis on peak performance training, founded by Dr. Sprague in 1985.The firm serves a varied clientele including youth, amateur, and professional athletes.Dr. Sprague speaks and publishes extensively at the regional, national, and international levels.He is a regular columnist for three publications in central Kentucky: Ladies Golf Journey, Central Kentucky Golf, and Lexington Family (formerly Lexington Kids & Champs).He has also written articles for Championship Performance and Tennis Pro, an international magazine of USPTR tennis teachers and coaches.A few of Dr. Sprague's past publications can be viewed here.He was a featured participant in the 1990 informational video Sports Injury Concerns: The Female Athlete, presented by the Coalition of Americans to Protect Sports in cooperation with the Women's Sports Foundation.His segment involved sociological and psychological concerns regarding the female athlete.Dr. Sprague has worked extensively with businesses over the past 20 years.Integrating this work with sport psychology has given him a unique perspective.He has worked with blue chip companies, CEO's, administration and line management and has consulted with a number of for profit and nonprofit organizations.His expertise has helped management in these organizations work toward peak performance in the workplace so that the organizations can achieve a competitive edge.He has assisted organizations to identify and eliminate barriers to productivity by: helping to implement conflict resolutions among employees, supervisors and management; assisting in the development of systematic guidelines for employers to effectively work with their employees; assessing candidates for job placement; and assisting with the formulation of action plans that solve accumulated problems, which could negatively affect the atmosphere in the workplace.Dr. Sprague is currently providing his expertise in sport psychology to: Athletes, and Parents and Coaches of Athletes Business Organizations For more information or to schedule an appointment, contact Dr. Sprague's office.
