"We're getting calls daily about peoples' experiences, our members are concerned," Deborah Volpe, Vice President of the Association of Flight Attendants Local 66, told ABC 15 in Phoenix, Arizona. Volpe said the union is offering advice to its flight attendants.
ABC 15 reports that union email informs flight attendants if they opt out of using the body scanner through security and are required to undergo a pat-down to ask the pat-down be conducted in a private area with a witness. "We don't want them in uniform going through this enhanced screening where their private areas are being touched in public," said Volpe.

"'Enough is Enough' is our theme for this protest rally," said Deborah Volpe, AFA local president at America West. "America West flight attendants have had enough of rock-bottom paychecks."
The protest will take place between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. tomorrow, September 25, at the Baggage Claim level (North Curb) of Terminal 4 at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
"America West flight attendants have been at the bottom of airline industry wages before, during and now, three years after the airline's bankruptcy," said Volpe, a flight attendant for over 10 years. "Our work rules are vague, our paychecks are insulting and we work extra hours just to make ends meet."
According to data compiled by the AFA Research Department, America West flight attendants not only rank on the bottom of pay scales among major airlines, but also among smaller, national carriers. Incredibly, America West flight attendants earn less than those who work for regional/commuter carriers as well.
"Even flight attendants who fly on small planes with propellers earn more money than America West flight attendants who work on jet aircraft carrying four to five times the number of passengers per flight," said Volpe.
