- representing the Republican-controlled House of Delegates - picked two candidates, Roe
Jones, Henderson-Stith, Griffin and Roe
are expected in Richmond today for interviews with a courts committee.
The group also recommended promoting Jones to Circuit Court and Roe
for juvenile court.
Speaking for his two choices - Roe and Griffin - Gear said: "You try to do what you think is best for Hampton, and I'm trying to go with who I feel is the best qualified."
If the new list of candidates all win seats, Hampton's courts will have seven whites and three blacks, and seven men and three women. (Roe and Griffin are white, while Henderson-Stith and Jones are black.)
