Deborah Davidson, a chemistry teacher at Ross Shepherd High School, was elected in a byelection yesterday to serve as an Edmonton district representative on the Provincial Executive Council of the Alberta Teachers' Association (ATA). The term of office for Davidson is from July 1, 2000 to June 30, 2001.Davidson has been actively involved in the ATA for several years, serving as vice-president of Edmonton Public Teachers' Local, chair of the Economic Policy Committee, chair of the Negotiating Subcommittee, member of the Teacher Welfare Services Committee, Edmonton Public representative on the Edmonton area Field Experiences Committee and as a delegate to many ATA forums and conferences.After receiving her BSc in chemistry, Davidson went on to complete a professional diploma after degree and a graduate diploma from the University of Alberta.She has taught with Edmonton Public Schools, at both the junior and senior high level, for 22 years.Davidson was elected by teachers in the Edmonton Catholic Teachers' Local and the Edmonton Public Teachers' Local defeating Rick Long, also with Edmonton Public Schools.
