WAILUKU - The County of Maui Department of Housing and Human Concerns
(DHHC) announced today the selection of Deborah Arendale
as its new Executive on Aging.
will begin her
new position on November 10, 2008.
Arendale has a Master's Degree in Counseling from the University of Phoenix, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and is a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor; she has extensive experience in the human services field, primarily with youth and the elderly.
Arendale most recently served as a Geriatric Mental Health Specialist with the University of Hawaii, providing direct mental health and assessment services to the elderly.
also participated in infrastructure development with the Maui Geriatric Mental Health Hui, and in consultations with other elderly service agencies.
She also has worked with Personal Parenting and Maui Youth and Family Services.
"Ms. Arendale has a wealth of experience working with many different partners in the community, and will definitely ensure that our community's elders will be well served," said Lori Tsuhako, DHHC Director.
