The board, staff, volunteers and clients of Jewish Family Service and the Colorado Rockies Charity Fund and Colorado Avalanche Community Fund advisory committee members congratulate the Jack Shapiro Community Service Award recipient, Lisa Taussig and the Kal Zeff Business Leaders of the Year, Don and Debbie Silversmith.
Don and Debbie Silversmith, founding partners of Sterling Partners, have had many years of experience in everything from securities analysis to real estate, finance, and insurance services. It has been a natural evolution that led to their newest project, the First Western Trust Bank.First Western Trust Bank provides private banking services, investment management, personal trust services, and family office services for individuals and their businesses throughout Colorado. These are exciting times at their Cherry Creek bank, marked by tremendous growth and exciting new ventures.
In addition to many professional associations, they have strong ties to a number of charitable organizations.Debbie is a member of the Women's Philanthropy Board of Allied Jewish Federation, past Women's Campaign Chair, and co-chair of their Major Gifts campaign.Don also co-chairs the Major Gifts campaign with Debbie; he sits on the board of Allied Jewish Federation, serving two terms as treasurer, two terms on the Endowment Committee, and he sits on the Philanthropy board as well; and he is a member of the board of National Jewish Hospital.Don's tenure on the JFS board has seen extraordinary growth in the need for services and JFS's subsequent growth to meet those needs.Don has been invaluable in making certain that growth happened in well-managed and appropriate ways.As chair of the Development Committee, he oversaw a complete reworking of the Development department, the birth of a new spring event - the JFS Executive Luncheon, and the institution of long-term strategic planning, meeting aspirations of new levels of professionalism.Don has been a driving force in making JFS the kind of organization that truly serves the community, the whole community, in which we live.Don says with pride, "In the areas in which they provide service, JFS is simply the best. They have a scope of services that serves the community in a way that no one else does."
Ad Journal tributes are available for those wishing to honor Lisa, Don and Debbie, and the work of Jewish Family Service.
