"Right now, if you are not part of a federally-chartered institution, you have to take the test," noted Traditions Bank vice president Debbie Aaron.
"If there's no bank connected with a mortgage business, they are required to do it. Eventually, I expect that they'll make everybody do it, though." Aaron said the Cullman area avoided the bandwagon effect of new mortgage lenders getting into a hot market before the real estate market crash of 2007. "I don't think Cullman had a lot of it going on here," she said.
