Deb Richard
Deb is Founder, President and Chairwoman of the Soaring with Eagles Foundation. Her vision for creating a program to "build a new generation of responsible leaders" is a natural outgrowth from the experiences of her life growing up playing the game of golf and then competing on the LPGA tour for almost twenty years. She retired from the tour with six tournament titles and the exhilarating experience of representing the United States as a member of the 1992 Solheim Cup team. The highlights of Deb's distinguished amateur career were capturing the 1984 US Women's Amateur Championship and leading the United States team at the 1984 World Cup in Hong Kong to victory. As a collegian at the University of Florida she led her team to its first national championship in 1985 and received the prestigious Broderick Award for Golf. In 2010, she was honored as a recipient of the prestigious NCAA Silver Anniversary Award in recognition of her professional excellence and philanthropic achievement. Deb has been honored as a Distinguished Alumnus at the University of Florida and has been inducted into the University of Florida Sports Hall of Fame, National Golf Coaches Association Players Hall of Fame, Kansas Golf Hall of Fame and Kansas Sports Hall of Fame.
One of Deb's favorite past endeavors was the Deb Richard Foundation, which is now endowed at the University of Florida and continues to award college scholarships to physically challenged students. She has been honored for her charitable work as the recipient of the Samaritan Award, Good Sports Award from Sports Illustrated for Kids, Founders Cup Award from Golf Digest and the Rotary Foundation Paul Harris Award.
As an LPGA player Richard served as Vice President of the LPGA Executive Committee to represent the players. She also served as an Independent Officio on the Tournament Owners Association Board of Directors. After retiring from competition, Richard was hired by the LPGA to be the Senior Vice President of Golf and reported directly to the Commissioner.
Born June 3, 1963, Richard received her BS in Advertising from the University of Florida in 1989. She currently resides in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.
