Dean Street is a Place to Call Home
Dean Street (755 Dean St) may have only opened in January, but if you spend just a few minutes at this restaurant and bar in Prospect Heights, you'll feel like you've been going there for years. Chef Mike Franzetti brought his French-Italian taste to the pub-fare of Dean Street from Stuzzechiera in TriBeCa, and has worked at Chestnut, Lupa, Washington Park, and Palladin before that. The building has been a beloved neighborhood hang-out through its past three reincarnations as a restaurant since 1990, and its latest iteration as Dean Street stays true to the role this corner has played for decades. Stay until 4am and then head home for a quick nap before starting over again, because that's about the only thing Dean Street doesn't offer.

Dean Street between Carlton and Vanderbilt
A dump truck backed into the entrance on Dean Street for the 535 Carlton Avenue construction site delayed fire response from the Dean Street firestation. The dump truck was backed into the entrance on Dean and blocking the street. I've witnessed delays of fire trucks on Dean Street numerous times since the introduction of the construction fence on Dean. To my knowledge the use of the entrances on Dean Street into block 1129 (and at the Dean/Carlton Avenue intersection) have never been defined by any protocols that have been made public. The risk of fire delay is significant with the use of these entrances. With the exception of traveling against traffic on Dean Street to 6th Avenue and then turning south on 6th, every exit from the Dean fire station is impacted by construction. 3). Another fire truck leaves the fire station on Dean a few moments or later and comes straight down Dean because the way is clear. This suggests to me that the most efficient route to the call was always east on Dean Street: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwxr9oLT5-U

Dean Street between Carlton and Vanderbilt
I came home to the attached notice that the water had been shut off in my house (and all buildings) on Dean Street between Carlton and Vanderbilt. My ill housemate had come home before me and spent some time trying to figure out what was going on. He was afraid to turn on the heat or water. He had already called 311 without success.

Greenland/FCRC Partners failed to give notice to the residents on Dean Street between Carlton and Vanderbilt Avenues that installation of the Pacific Park Arts murals would start at 5 am, and that the use of hydraulic lifts during that time could be noisy.
