REV. DAVID YOUNG
The congregation of the First Presbyterian Church of Newton is excited to welcome Reverend David Young
wife, the Reverend Nancy Young, and their family to our community of faith.
David comes to us from New Albany, Indiana where he served as interim pastor for the Madison Presbyterian Church since April of 2010.
A graduate of The College of Wooster, Ohio, The University of Maryland, College Park and Princeton Theological Seminary, David was ordained in 1987.
first call was to serve the First Presbyterian Church of Stillwater, New Jersey.
In 1993, he
wife Nancy received a call to co-pastor a New Church Development in Fargo, North Dakota and in 1996 he
was called to serve at Chapel Lane
in Midland, Minnesota.
has experience in congregations of various sizes and locations and has skills in new church development and congregational redevelopment, as well as transitional ministry.
David has also served at the presbytery level on the Committee on Ministry and has training and experience with conflict management and mediation.
On the national level, he
serves as one of the co-moderators of Presbyterians for Disability Concerns, part of PHEWA (Presbyterians for Health, Education and Welfare Association
In addition, David
has participated in numerous mission trips to Appalachia, the Gulf Coast, and most recently to the tornado-ravaged region of southern Indiana where he
is able to witness to the love of Jesus Christ through renovating, rebuilding and reclaiming people's homes and livelihoods.
Nancy and David
have three children, Adam, Micah, and Molly, all of whom are pursuing careers in music.
Adam and Micah both live in New York City.
