Dave's Story | Dave Ware [cached]

Dave Ware serves as Hattiesburg's Councilman for Ward 4.
Elected in 2006 with 79% of the vote to fill the unexpired term of retiring councilman Red Bailey, Dave Ware was elected to a full term in 2009. He now serves as Vice President of the City Council. At age 40, Dave is Hattiesburg's youngest councilman. In his six-plus years in office, he has spearheaded revitalization efforts in Hattiesburg's oldest commercial and residential neighborhoods. Dave offers an independent, proactive approach to municipal public policy. Accessible to constituents, his willingness to take tough stands on important issues brings accountability to all areas of city government. Dave works as a certified registered nurse anesthetist for Southern Anesthesia, a company that he founded in 2000. He earned degrees from Jones County Junior College, The University of Southern Mississippi and Xavier University. Dave also works as President of Walthall Development, restoring and rehabilitating numerous historic buildings in Hattiesburg. His latest project, the restoration of the old Walthall Elementary School into the Walthall Condominiums, is a Mississippi Landmark and can be found on the National Register of Historic Places. He is a member of the Area Development Partnership, Hattiesburg Historic Neighborhood Association, the Historic Hattiesburg Downtown Association and the Walthall Foundation.

Results Matter | Dave Ware [cached]

That's why Dave Ware seeks your vote for mayor of Hattiesburg on June 4th.
His leadership and accomplishments have already moved the city forward. Results matter. In 2010, Dave saw a sanitation system that was inconsistent in its delivery, dangerous to city workers and costly to the city because of rising workers compensation claims. Dave sought solutions from other cities on how best to modernize sanitation without sacrificing service. Not only did he study policy, but in typical Dave Ware fashion, he spent a day riding on the back of a garbage truck to experience the conditions in which city sanitation officials worked. This experience led Dave to propose and push through a policy that modernized sanitation collection that was safe for city workers and saved taxpayers money. Results matter. In 2011, Dave saw an inefficient method of measuring and reading water meters in the city of Hattiesburg. The city was paying too many workers to ride around and "estimate" the amount of water businesses and residents were using. Dave again researched how other cutting edge cities were solving this problem and pushed through automated water metering. This has led to a more accurate metering and collection system. Results matter. In 2013, the day after a devastating tornado tore through Wards 1, 3, 4 and 2, Dave worked with other neighborhood leaders to put a call out for volunteers to assist neighbors in clearing debris. Ten days later, over one thousand volunteers had assisted several hundred families east of Highway 49 to cut trees, clear debris and put on blue roofs for Hattiesburg's families. Dave, never content to sit in an office, led from the front as he worked along other volunteers to help neighbors. These results show the kind of mayor Dave will be for the people of Hattiesburg. As mayor, Dave Ware will provide hands-on leadership for all neighborhoods and residents. Dave Ware will empower our city employees and provide better customer service to citizens, continue restoring integrity to our municipal court and improve quality of life by foster 21st century solutions to infrastructure problems. Results matter. That's why we need Dave Ware as mayor of Hattiesburg.

WDAM: Democrats across Hattiesburg rally for Ware | Dave Ware [cached]

Dozens of people across Hattiesburg rallied around independent candidate for mayor Dave Ware this evening.
Most of the people at Tuesday night's rally were from the Democratic Party. The Democrats for Dave Coalition announced their support of Dave Ware as the next mayor of Hattiesburg. The rally included a press conference, featuring remarks from prominent members of the Democratic Party, and Dave Ware himself. Lifelong Democratic supporter Brown Miller opened up the conference by putting his political viewpoints aside to announce his support for Dave Ware. Then Ware stepped forward. "Now, we can continue on with the failed politics in the past, or we can choose to reach out and say '"no longer is going to be good enough here in Hattiesburg."' Former Hattiesburg mayoral candidate Nathan Jordan also endorsed Ware at Tuesday evening's press conference.

A Letter from Amy Jo Ware | Dave Ware [cached]

That's why I was so very proud when my husband, Dave Ware, told me he felt called to run for mayor of Hattiesburg.
You see, I know Dave better than anyone, and I know that he is exactly who our city needs right now to lead Hattiesburg forward together. As a member of the City Council, Dave always goes above and beyond the call of duty. That's because my husband is not a politician- he is a servant first and foremost. Dave doesn't just sit in meetings and decide on issues based on what he hears. He gets out, rolls up his sleeves, and produces results. I know that Dave will do the right thing, every single time. It's not about politics or popularity, it's about what's best for the people of Hattiesburg. When it comes to our community, Dave has proven himself to be a dedicated leader. He meets the people of Hattiesburg face-to-face when they have needs or concerns. Whether it's personally installing an air-conditioning unit in a senior citizen's home during the hot summer months or working 14-hour days to help jumpstart the relief process in the weeks following the tornado, there is no doubt that my husband pours his heart into our community. And even after all this, no matter what Dave's days include, they always end with him at home, tucking our children into bed each night. Family has always been most important to us and I don't know a more dedicated father than my husband. Although he has worked hard and sacrificed a lot over the years, our family has always come first. That's because Dave is a man of his word, who honors his commitments. There is no doubt in my mind that as mayor, he will extend that same level of care and concern to every family in Hattiesburg. Dave always says, "Hattiesburg is a wonderful place to live, but we can be better. On June 4th, please join me in voting to elect my husband, Dave Ware, for Mayor of Hattiesburg.
