Since Bernabei & Wachtel formed in 2006, David Wachtel has served as lead counsel for several hundred individual clients.
A large part of Mr. Wachtel's
work includes representing clients in alternative dispute resolution ("ADR"), including arbitration and mediation.
For more than ten years, he has been a member of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia civil pro bono panel, appointed by the Court to represent pro se individuals in mediation.
In 2012, Mr. Wachtel
completed the Maryland State Bar Association
40 hour training course for mediators.
Recently, Mr. Wachtel
has represented many government and contractor employees in the intelligence and law enforcement communities.
In 2011, Mr. Wachtel
was granted a case-specific interim security clearance to review classified information in the course of an employment dispute.

Before joining with Lynne Bernabei and Alan Kabat in 2005, Mr. Wachtel was a member of Rose & Rose, a Washington, D.C., employee-side law firm where his cases addressed age and race discrimination against classes of employees, denial of academic tenure, civil service rights, denial of promotions to federal employees on the basis of race, sex, and national origin, disability discrimination, FMLA interference and retaliation, among other issues.
Mr. Wachtel is currently a member of the editorial advisory board for Wolters Kluwer Law & Business, Labor & Employment and was a member of the editorial advisory board for the first edition of Representing ADA Plaintiffs (James Publishing).
Mr. Wachtel has been a member of the California Bar since 1990, the District of Columbia Bar since 1991, and the Maryland Bar since 1997.
Mr. Wachtel earned a J.D. degree with honors at the University of Texas School of Law in 1989 where he served as a Notes Editor of the Texas Law Review.
He received his undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis in 1984.
