GREENVILLE -- Funeral services for David L. Vickers
, 55, of Greenville, will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. at Boone-Wells Funeral Home, Greenville.He
died Jan. 12, 2002, at his
home.Burial will be in Elliott Cemetery, Tylertown, at 3 p.m. on Friday.Mr. Vickers
was a native of Greenville.He graduated from Greenville High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era.After his discharge, he returned to Greenville and was a river boat pilot and manufacturer.He was a helicopter and airplane pilot, scuba diver, sky diver, race car driver and builder.He served as deputy sheriff of Washington County for many years.He
was a skilled marksman, an excellent horseman and a devoted grandfather.He
was also a gourmet cook.
Survivors include his
wife, Brenda Magee Vickers of Greenville; one son, Jamie Phillip Bridges of Greenville; and one granddaughter, Shelby Christina Bridges of Greenville.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Boone-Wells Funeral Home, Greenville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
