~ David Swift ~
Maria wakes up early.
is just beginning to sleep through the night, but she
needs to catch her
never thought that she
would miss school as much as she
does, but it's the the last piece of normalcy she
has to hang on to.
Legally, the school district must send a car for her
is happy about that.
But sometimes it takes many phone calls and a few days to set up.
That gives her
time to think about what she
will tell her
Why isn't she
on the bus or living at home?
Why has she
been acting so strangely?
Why couldn't mom just stay at home
On second thought, maybe she
doesn't want to go to school at all.
enjoyed the rock climbing activity planned by the shelter last night, and they're supposed to go swimming on Friday, but what is "support group", and why do she
and mom have to go?
knows that she
cannot go home and she
knows why, so she
decides that she
is going to hang in there with mom.
