David Stathers will retire from Boots on 31st March after a lifetime's service of 44 years.David's contribution to the business has been exceptional from starting as an indentured apprentice, eventually becoming Director of Estates with a position on Boots The Chemists executive.
More recently, as property and planning adviser, his
expertise has been widely recognised both in the retail and property industries and in senior Government circles.He
influenced property and planning policy and helped Boots
to trade more successfully in all locations. He
was instrumental in shaping the store portfolio of the company, particularly in a period of massive expansion in the 1970's when he
steered the acquisition of over one million sq ft of additional sales area.He
also successfully campaigned for the interests of tenants and for more flexibility in the property market on a wider basis. He has held many positions on influential bodies including president of the Property Managers Association, president of the Incorporated Society of Valuers and Auctioneers, Chairman of the BRC's Property & Advisory Group, appointed the first Chairman of the RICS England & Wales.He remains a non-executive director of the Valuation Office Agency.
In 2000, David
was appointed a CBE in recognition of services to property and for promoting the cause of town centres.
