David Smithers is a non-executive director of IES, appointed in August 2006. He is also the Chairman of the IES Board Risk Audit & Compliance Committee, which is responsible for monitoring and actioning risk areas of the company.
Mr Smithers was previously the Executive General Manager of listed construction company Leighton Holdings Limited and currently acts as a consultant to that company. In 1998, Mr Smithers was admitted as a Member of the Order of Australia and in 1999 was awarded the Sir John Loewenthal Award for distinguished service to the National Heart Foundation (one of just ten awarded since 1975).
