Lehigh Valley Hospital - Crackdown on Hazing

lvhhn.org [cached]

While some hazing consists of harmless pranks, more serious incidents can be damaging, says psychotherapist David Schlegel of Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network."As with any traumatic event, some hazing victims cope better than others," he says."But kids who are hazed are more likely to seek revenge by hazing others. They're also more prone to fighting and have a higher incidence of psychological and behavioral problems."What can parents do?Many aren't aware of the problem because hazing often is hidden from coaches and school administrators, Schlegel says.
