David enjoys helping employers. He enjoys helping lawyers help employers. Employers provide jobs. Even if an employer fires an employee, the employer still provides jobs to other employees. David usually has sympathy for the fired employee and hopes the fired employee can find another job. But David almost always has sympathy for the employer, because the employer provides jobs to a number of people. We need jobs in Connecticut. David has 39 years of experience advising employers about employment law. He practiced employment law in Massachusetts from 1977 to 2008 and has practiced in Connecticut from 2008 to the present. He is the author of many books and articles on employment law. He earned his J.D. in 1977 at Washington University in St. Louis, where he was a senior editor of the law review.

In David's opinion (David is not a theologian; he is a lay person simply offering his opinion), the Bible does not favor employees over employers, nor does the Bible favor employers over employees. In David's opinion, the Bible is evenly balanced between employers and employees. The Bible, in David's opinion (again, this is just his opinion; he explains his opinion in this book), is an excellent guide to greater success for employers and employees, and is an excellent guide to preventing discrimination and litigation.

Both books are written by David A. Robinson, a lawyer who has advised employers about labor law and employment law for 36 years (1977 to 2008 in Massachusetts, 2008 to present in Connecticut) and is now practitioner-in-residence at the University of New Haven, where he teaches in the MBA program. He earned a B.A. in Economics from George Washington University in 1974 and a J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis in 1977. He is an active member of the Connecticut bar and a retired member of the Massachusetts bar.

David advises Connecticut employers (businesses, nonprofit organizations, and municipalities) about employment law: the rights of employers and employees. He answers employers' questions about hiring, discrimination, termination, wages, hours, overtime pay, family/medical/pregnancy leave, job references, drug testing, and other employment law topics. If you are a Connecticut employer and have such a question, call or email David.
David's office is in his home in North Haven; he does not meet with clients there. When clients want to meet with him, he meets them at their office or other place of their choosing. David had a nice office in downtown Springfield, Mass., when he practiced law there from 1977 to 2008, but today, in Connecticut, in the digital age, he does not need an office (except a little office in his home). He does not need a support staff. He does everything himself. His overhead expenses are thus very low. He passes the savings along to his clients by charging them very affordable fees based on a sliding scale (he charges smaller employers less).

The book, written by David A. ...

The book, written by David A. Robinson, who practices law in the New Haven area and teaches management and labor law courses at UNH, where he is a practitioner-in-residence, discusses the common types of discrimination in the workplace and offers advice to both the employer and the employee on how to avoid them.

A faith-based approach to the issues, the book uses religious sources to explain why discrimination is wrong. "The book shows how following religious and legal principles will help employers prevent discrimination in the workplace and reduce their exposure to employee lawsuits," Robinson says.
It also offers employees a way to determine whether or not their problems at work result from discrimination by their employer or from their own shortcomings. And that is important, Robinson says, because many employees who sue - rightly or wrongly - end up in a worse financial position than they were before the lawsuit was filed.
"Many of these people end up having trouble landing new jobs," Robinson says. "Many employers don't want to hire employees who have filed lawsuits. The employers don't want to be next. Robinson took the faith-based route because he knew that readers might be bored with a recitation of the law. So he decided to spice up the book with quotations and found many appropriate ones in the Bible. "I make the case that if an employer follows the Bible, he will also follow the law," he says. "The laws against discrimination are based on biblical principles, and when both employers and employees follow these principles, discrimination in the workplace will be prevented. Topics covered by the book include discrimination on the basis of race, gender, sex, sexual orientation, religion and other topics. There is also information on preventing discriminatory language and tips on how to reduce damages and attorney fees.
"Discrimination is illegal, immoral and abusive and should end," Robinson says.
