McCrackenRetired diary farmerCATAWBA , SC -- David Eldridge McCracken , 72 , of 217 Jaycee Drive , Catawba , SC , died Friday , Nov.17 , 2000 , at his homeA native of Haywood County , he was the son of the late Albert Johnson McCracken and Myrtle Medford McCracken.He was a retired dairy farmer and operated a family dairy farm for more than 25 years.He graduated from North Carolina State University with a bachelor of.science degree in agricultural education and worked with the NC Extension service in Randolph County.He was a US Army veteran serving in the Korean War.He was a member of Park Baptist Church in Rock Hill , SC.Surviving are his wife , Kathleen Bodenheimer McCracken ; two sons , Phillip Elderidge McCracken of Johnson City , Tenn. , and Timothy J. McCracken of Edgemoor , SC ; one daughter , Elizabeth Ann M. White of Cary ; one brother , Albert McCracken of Granite Quarry ; four sisters , Mabel M. Bryson and Peggy M. Briggs , both of Waynesville , Evelyn M. Sutton of Lake Junaluska , and Mary Frances Gray of Charlotte ; and three grandchildren.Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Park Baptist Church.The Rev. Eddie E. Ramsey officiated.Burial services were held at 1 p.m. Monday at Providence Friends Cemetery in Pleasant Garden.The family received friends immediately following the service and at other times at the home.Greene Funeral Home in Rock Hill , SC , was in charge of arrangements.
