GetUp was founded in 2005 by Jeremy Heimans and David Madden, two young Australian graduates of Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government who have worked at the intersection of technology, new media and politics in the United States.
David and Jeremy are now co-founders of Avaaz.org, a new global online political community inspired by the success of GetUp and the US group MoveOn.org.
The board includes GetUp's co-founders David Madden and Jeremy Heimans, community organiser Amanda Tattersall, the founder of Rural Australians for Refugees Anne Coombs and former Executive Director Brett Solomon.
Created by David Madden, the co-founder of New York agency Purpose, and May Thandar Win, a Myanmar national with more than a decade of experience in media and marketing, Parami Road combines global marketing expertise with deep local knowledge.
The World Economic Forum at Davos has named him a Young Global Leader and the World e-Government Forum has named Jeremy and Purpose co-founder David Madden among the "Top 10 People Who Are Changing the World of the Internet and Politics".
